Environmental Media Solutions purchase all types X-Ray and MRI film. We work closely with our clients in the medical, veterinary and engineering sectors to ensure you receive the best price and service.
We collect nationwide, using one of our tracked vehicles, and pay money for all quantities over 100kgs in weight. Any film under 100kgs we will collect and recycle free of charge. Once your film arrives at our facility it is separated from its card/paper sleeve and is shredded to destroy any confidential information.
The Law requires that medical facilities keep X-rays on file for several years. After that, it is important for hospitals, dentists and even veterinary clinics to dispose of X-rays properly according to environmental and data protection guidelines.
Environmental Media Solutions are registered with the Environment Agency so you can rest assured your material will be handled legally. Once your waste material enters our facility it is weighed and a certificate of destruction is issued.
We are also certified and governed by FACT (Federation against Copyright Theft) and the data protection agency, so all sensitive material is handled and destroyed according to UK legislation.
All copies of licenses and certificates are available upon request.
We do not pay for film weighing less than 100kgs. We do however offer a free destruction service and will arrange and cover the cost of collection. We will then issue you with a certificate of destruction for your records.

How much do you pay for used film?
We pay per kilo for any quantity of X-rays over 100 kilos. The price is governed by the current market silver price. For up to date pricing please contact us.
Do you pay for collection?
Yes we do pay for collection.
Do I need to split the x-rays from their files or envelopes?
No we will separate these once they arrive at our facility. We will recycle the paper free of charge then pay for the weight of the X-rays once they are separated.
If I have less than 100kgs in weight do you pay me?
No, we do not pay for film weighing less than 100kgs. We will collect and recycle this free of charge and issue a certificate of destruction.
I have a large quantity of X-ray film, over 10 tons. Do you handle large amounts?
Yes, we can handle any amount of film large or small. We work with organizations that have 50 tons + so large volumes are not an issue.
How do I know how much my X-rays weigh?
Without scales this could be difficult. However if you have a standard archive box (for A4 lever arch files) the average weight when full of X-ray film with or without envelopes is 35 kilos. So you would require three archive boxes to make the minimum of 100 kilos.
When do I receive payment for my used film?
Once we have weighed your X-ray film we will send you a purchase order for you to raise an invoice against. We then pay 30 days from your invoice date.
Do you collect from overseas?
No we do not collect from overseas. We only collect from mainland UK.
